Resistance to the wheat curl mite and mite-transmitted viruses: challenges and future directions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Wheat curl mite (WCM) is the only known arthropod vector of four wheat viruses, most important which streak mosaic virus (WSMV). Host resistance to WCM and WSMV limited a small number loci, are introgressed from wild relatives often associated with linkage drag temperature sensitivity. Reports virulent populations potential resistance-breaking isolates highlight need for more diverse sources resistance. Genome sequencing will be critical fully characterize genetic diversity in better understand incidence WCM-transmitted viruses evaluate stability genes. Characterizing host genes help build mechanistic understanding wheat-WCM-WSMV interactions inform strategies identify engineer durable sources.

Planting Date and Variety Selection for Management of Viruses Transmitted by the Wheat Curl Mite (Acari: Eriophyidae).
Wheat is an important food grain worldwide, and it is the primary dryland crop in the western Great Plains. A complex of three viruses (Wheat streak mosaic, Wheat mosaic, and Triticum mosaic viruses) is a common cause of loss in winter wheat production in the Great Plains. All these viruses are transmitted by the wheat curl mite (Aceria tosichella Keifer). Once these viruses are established, th...

The wheat curl mite, Aceria tosichella Keifer, transmits at least three harmful viruses, wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV), high plains virus (HPV), and Triticum mosaic virus (TriMV) to wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) throughout the Great Plains. This virus complex is considered to be the most serious disease of winter wheat in the western Great Plains. One component of managing this disease has be...

This study assessed A. toschiella resistance in wheat genotypes containin...
